On Friday, October 15th the Best Business Women Awards 2021 took place in London. After submitting applications a few months ago, our founder and MD Alexis and a small contingent of the Fortis team found themselves shortlisted in four categories: Best Boss, Best Customer Service, Best Working with Children and Families, and Best Business of the Year.
Joining hundreds of other business women, out of the thousands that entered this international awards ceremony, Alexis and the team were stunned to not only win three Silver awards in the Best Boss, Best Customer Service, and Best Working with Children and Families categories, but Gold for Best Business of the Year.
The only business attending 2021’s awards to receive so many honours, the only business attending to be a finalist in four categories, the night was an incredible celebration, a true testament to the hard work, dedication and drive Fortis continually shows to offer to gold standard in therapeutic mental health and emotional wellbeing services.
Alexis Powell-Howard, Fortis founder and MD said: “To be in a room with so many inspirational business owners was amazing, a fantastic celebration of the innovation, tenacity and creativity in business. We were so thrilled to win silver awards for three categories, and then to win gold for the Best Business of the Year just blew us away.
“The team at Fortis has worked incredibly hard over the last nine years, and the last 18 months have been challenging with more people than ever accessing Fortis meaning that we have been providing our services in any way that works for the businesses, schools, services and individuals that we support. To be recognised for the work we do has been a massive boost for the team and supports our consistent drive towards being the gold standard in therapeutic mental health and emotional wellbeing services.”
Judges commented: “With strong demonstrable results this driven entrepreneur has built a business born from her own experiences and near tragedy into an impressive business. This business not only serves the public but has gained an impressive number of contracts with local authorities, hospitals, large corporate businesses, and the Police wellbeing service to name a few. She has built community groups, has a podcast and her passion for mental health support shines through. A true best business in every sense.”
The awards themselves were founded in 2015 by multi-award-winning entrepreneur Debbie Gilbert and are now considered to be one of the UK’s most prestigious awards for business women. The awards cover a wide variety of industries and recognise and reward female business talent, both in the UK and internationally.
