Therapy for Individuals of All Ages
Supporting you in moving forward and feeling differently
Therapy provides time with a completely independent, non-judgemental professional who listens carefully to what you have to say. Whether talking, using creativity, arts, play, systemic or cognitive behavioural modalities, each and every therapy can be integrated so that, together, you find a method that meets your needs.
The goal is to create an honest, trusting and respectful relationship between you and your therapist so that you can work through your thoughts, feelings, experiences and hopes for the future. Ultimately, we want you to begin thinking about things in a different way and to feel more accepting of yourself.
Why you might need therapy
It’s important to remember that each and every person is individual and that your personal experiences and reasons for seeking therapy will be completely different to anyone else. Reasons for seeking therapy could be:
- Addictive behaviours and tendancies
- Attachment and loss difficulties
- Behavioural difficulties
- Eating difficulties
- Family problems
- Gambling addiction
- Gender identity
- Isolation and loneliness
- Low mood
- Low self-esteem
- Post-traumatic stress
- Relationship difficulties
- Struggling with everyday life
- Suicidal Ideation
- Those affected by alcoholism
Who do we support?
The short answer is everyone – people of all ages, genders, backgrounds and circumstances including couples and families. Adults may access therapy to resolve struggles or to adjust to life-changing events, whereas young people may need help with any confusing feelings or life transitions. Our therapists will assist couples in working through miscommunication, and help families who are dealing with difficult dynamics. For children, we are able to provide a safe opportunity to express memories in an effective, creative, less intrusive way.
Approved Provider for Adoption Support
Adoption can be an extremely rewarding but challenging time for both parents and children, and in the past, many families may not have received sufficient help – particularly when it came to awareness of mental health issues. This is why the Government has implemented the Adoption Support Fund – so adoptive families can easily access the therapeutic support they need.
Fortis Therapy & Training are proud to be on the Approved Provider List for Therapeutic Services for the Yorkshire and Humber Adoption Consortium. We work closely with both adoptive families and the Local Authority during and following adoption, supporting the new parent-child relationship and helping to establish a loving and stable home.
Art and play therapy is a creative way for children and young people to express their feelings and develop their social skills. We have a number of children who love using Lego during their sessions and so, Fortis will soon be offering Lego-based therapy to its clients.
Lego-based therapy allows the child to practise a multitude of skills, from listening, sharing, and communication to compromise and problem-solving. It encourages interaction through collaborative play, helping children with conditions such as autism.

Therapy Sessions via Skype
We understand that meeting face-to-face can be daunting at first, which is why we can talk with you over Skype as well as in person.
The process is exactly the same; reach out to us when you’re ready and we’ll arrange a suitable date and time for a session. The only difference is you’ll be in the comfort of your own home.
Because of this, our therapists and counsellors can offer their support to people all around the UK and internationally.
“Fortis Therapy was arranged through my workplace for me, to help with some personal issues. The guidance and support I’ve received have been invaluable and helped me out of a dark place. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Jacqui’s help and support. Thank you to everyone at Fortis.”
“Fortis has provided me with the tools and space to access the darkest recesses of my mind. I am a completely changed person and believe I have a life worth living.”
“Counselling was a very positive experience. I was listened to, understood and never judged. Gemma allowed me space and time to explore my issues for myself, which was empowering.”
“The sessions I have received have really helped. I have learnt new techniques on how to deal with my anxiety. I will use these well into the future. Thank you for all your help, support and understanding.”
