Carol Jones
Why | After working as a support worker in residential care for several years, I trained as a Healthcare Play Specialist and Intensive Interaction Coordinator, but there was something missing. I wanted to help the children who needed more therapeutic play; the children the teachers didnāt understand; the children who were labelled as 'difficult' or 'naughty' but their experiences told a different story. Which is why I trained to be a Play Therapist.
Who | Primary aged children; children and young adults with special educational needs (SEN)
How | Using Person Centred Play Therapy; enabling young children and people with SEN to navigate a therapeutic journey by communicating through play
My Passion | Helping adults find a different way of thinking by seeing the worldĀ Ā from the childās perspective. Enabling people with severe and profound learning disabilities to have opportunities to communicate and develop mutual social connections with others.
Little known fact | I fell forward off a crane platform located 180 ft high and did a bungee jump with no hesitation.
My self care tip | Always find time to play; identify what is intrinsically motivating and enjoyable for you and engage in it playfully.
