Schools case studies

Fortis Therapy & Training is a team of dedicated, qualified therapists, counsellors, and trainers based in Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Louth, and Hull.

Offering multi-award winning therapy and support for schools

We have worked with so many establishments since we began twenty years ago and have provided mental health support in schools across the county. Some since the very beginning. Our work supporting staff, pupils and their parents is work we are exceedingly proud of. It’s seen incredible partnerships forged, exciting projects completed – and it’s even helped us win awards, namely Mental Health Consultancy of the Year.

But what really matters, is the affect our collaborative work has on those who experience school life – whichever side of the coin – throughout the academic year. And we’re thrilled to be able to show you that impact through case studies.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy Support and Cultural Development in Carcroft Primary Academy

One project that showcases exactly why we do what we do with schools was a scheme we piloted in Doncaster schools, in partnership with Right to Succeed and Doncaster Council. A pilot which has resulted in some extremely positive changes. Using an evidence-based approach, Right to Succeed supports schools to build on the potential of those children living in poverty in the UK.

Schools involved reported that senior leaders have been using the strategies they have learned and, what’s more, that they seem to be working effectively. They also report huge changes in individual children as a result of these therapy sessions. One of the schools involved was Carcroft Primary School, which has Kirsty Laing at the helm as Headteacher.

A multi-faceted systemic approach, when we talk about the ‘Whole School Approach to Wellbeing’ we really mean it. From how each pupil’s mental health and wellbeing is catered for all the way through to the head teacher, it is all encompassing and extremely thorough. We work with schools to introduce therapy and coaching sessions and tools – such as therapy rooms and resources - available to both pupils and staff.
